Online Training – Health and Wellbeing and Suicide Alertness/Awareness.

Due to the on-going COVID-19 restrictions face to face training is paused for the moment, however there are a number of FREE on-line Sessions currently available in the areas of Health and Wellbeing and Suicide Alertness/Awareness.

Outlined below is information regarding these sessions, and we would be grateful if you could ensure that this information is circulated to your teams, networks and contacts as discussed:

Mind Your Wellbeing – A new mental health and wellbeing programme launched

HSE Health & Wellbeing nationally has launched a new, free, online mental health and wellbeing programme called Minding Your Wellbeing. This evidenced based programme, focusing on the promotion of mental wellbeing, has been adapted from a face-to-face programme into a series of online videos for everyone at this time.

What does the programme consist of?

Consisting of 5 video sessions (20 min) which can be accessed by visiting www.yourmentalhealth.ie, the content focuses on:

  1. Practicing Self-Care

Explores the importance of individual’s self-care and encourages participants to build their own ‘self-care toolkit’ which includes healthy habits for their mental health and wellbeing.

  1. Understanding Our Thoughts

Invites participants to reflect on their own thinking and consider how thinking patterns can impact wellbeing.

  1. Exploring Emotions

Encourages participants to notice their emotions and increase their positive emotions to improve their wellbeing.

  1. Building Positive Relationships

Discusses ways in which participants can nurture, value and foster positive relationships which are so important for mental wellbeing.

  1. Improving Our Resilience

Invites participants to improve their resilience, learn about the building blocks of resilience including the importance of focusing on strengths.

This provides a unique opportunity for everyone to learn and practice key elements of mental wellbeing such as mindfulness, gratitude, self-care and resilience.

FREE ‘START’ – Online 90 minute session in becoming Suicide Alert

Living Works Start helps participants to identify people who are at risk, confidently ask them about the topic of suicide and connect them with resources that can help them stay safe.  The programme uses a mix of guided online content, video and interactive questions. You can pause and recommence the programme at your own convenience. On average, the programme will take one hour 30 minutes to complete, but you can work at your own pace.

FREE ‘eSuicideTalk’ – online 90 minute session on suicide awareness

esuicideTALK is a one to two hour online exploration in suicide awareness. The programme is organized around the question “should we talk about suicide?” and offers a space to safely explore some of the more challenging issues relating to suicide. The programme encourages everyone to find a part they can play in preventing suicide. Its goal is to help make direct, open and honest talk about suicide easier.  FREE ‘Introduction to understanding self-harm’ – online 90 minute session

This session seeks to introduce participants to an increased awareness of self-harm and begin to develop an understanding of the issues faced by people who engage in self-harming behavior.  While also exploring how they can help and what additional supports are available.
