Supporting the Mental Health and Wellbeing of LGBTQ+ Young People

This practical and interactive training is designed for professionals who work with young people and want to strengthen their knowledge, skills and confidence in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of LGBTQ+ young people.

Developed in partnership by Jigsaw and Belong To LGBTQ+ Youth Ireland, the training uses a protective factors framework to explore how everyday interactions, relationships, environments and systems can strengthen and protect young people’s mental health and wellbeing.

Who should attend?

This training is suitable for professionals and volunteers who work with young people, including those working in youth, education, community, health, sport and other youth-facing settings.

Participants will:

·         Increase their understanding of the factors that influence LGBTQ+ young people’s mental health and wellbeing.

·         Build confidence in developing supportive and affirming relationships with LGBTQ+ young people.

·         Strengthen their ability to create safe and inclusive environments that promote wellbeing. 

·         Apply practical strategies to support LGBTQ+ young people at the individual, relationship, community and societal levels.

 

Training Dates & Locations

·         Dublin: Jigsaw National Office, Pearse st. Dublin 2 – Wednesday, 23rd of September

·         Cork: The Hut Youth Project, Gurranabraher, Cork – Tuesday, 20th of October

·         Donegal: Donegal Education Support Centre, Letterkenny – Tuesday, 10th of November

·         Galway: The Portershed, Market st, Galway – Wednesday, 18th of November

 

Time: 10am – 4pm 

Cost: Free of charge.
